culture shock in shanghai: Do you carry your girlfriend's handbag for her?

Do you carry your girlfriend's handbag for her? I’m experiencing culture shock in shanghai. I have noticed that many Chinese guys carry their girlfriends' handbags
I can understand if the handbag is big and too heavy...

But sometimes I see guys carrying mini cute handbags for their girls...it looks funny when a 6 feet guy is holding a pink tiny hang bag,and walk next to their girl friend..its not only young boys, you can see 50 or 60 year old man carrying their wife 's tiny ladies bag.A significant number of chinese men think it is an expression of love to carry their girlfriend’s or wife’s handbag for them when they are out together.The handbag-carrying guy seems to be a chineese phenomenon. It looks more absurd when a man is carrying his girlfriend’s hand bag, It is ok for a man to carry shopping/grocery bags,,isnt it.? But I think a handbag is a necessary part of a woman’s outfit – and hubby or boyfriend sporting it does not complete the look...
